If you are a fan of war films, and have never seen Full Metal Jacket you have no idea what you are missing. It is available on Prime, Showtime, Hulu or you can pick up a DVD relatively cheap via the interweb.
I have seen it a few times, I own a copy and have it on my PLEX server, so I can watch it when I want to. But I was on Hulu the other night, saw it was there and before I knew it I was clicking that little arrow and watching instead of working.
Full Metal Jacket: You meet the raw recruits right off the bat. Matthew Modine, Vincent D’Onofrio, Adam Baldwin, and the great R. Lee Ermey. The rest of the cast is on point, but they are the stars.
This is one of Stanley Kubrick’s greatest movies. His does MOVIE so well, and this one is no exception to his standards.
So here we are in Basic Training, getting recruits ready for Vietnam. You can feel for these raw recruits, from the moment they get their hair buzzed off, to the day they graduate and find out they’re going to Vietnam.
Everything you could want to know about Full Metal Jacket:
From Boot Camp To Vietnam, in country, out in the jungle, boys becoming men, and maybe something else too. One of the most honest looks at Vietnam without trying to romanticize the violence, the people, the things soldiers do. It’s an unapologetic look at the real thing. It is at the top of my list for war movies. Give it a look when you have the opportunity, Dell.
